Glossary
This chapter explains some common terms used throughout the website.
- Opcode: The instruction a microprocessor should execute (specifically the
hexadecimal code of the instruction - e.g. 0x18 for ADD)
- Mnemonic: A human-friendly name for an opcode or some other value (e.g.
ADD for the 0x18 opcode, or A for the arithmetic register)
- Displacement: Another word for an offset when talking about addresses
